We spent the past few weekends photographing our design work for the website and can’t wait to feature it. I should see the last photo shoot this Saturday. I am so excited! We also snapped some photos of myself and my husband/business manager, Dion Genchi. Since I am six months pregnant, I am anxious to see how I look! My photographer sent me a “teaser”…what do you think?
Obviously there aren’t two of me, it is just the result of some handy photoshop skills that I wish I had! I was trying to disguise my pregnancy, considering I won’t be pregnant forever..hopefully. It was a ton of fun staging the home and creating the magic in this space. This home is one of our more “vibrant” homes. Loads of personality! It just goes to show you that if color is used right, then it can make the right statement. Which leads me to my topic. If a picture does say a thousand words, what will mine say? Interior photography can be really difficult to capture that essence that I spent months trying to portray. The color has to be perfect. The accessories need to be alluring. The picture needs to WOW. I love my job. I love developing spaces that were never imagined by the homeowners. I love when they walk into their space and their face lights up and sometimes I even get tears. I have been told I have changed the way their life functions. How do you capture that? How can I bottle that up for when I need a little inspiration? I have to admit, it is nice to reminisce on the design through pictures. It does make me a bit emotional though because I miss my clients! (That is not just the hormones talking) I really value my relationship with my clients and realize that after working closely with them for 6 months or so, I develop an individual bond with each one. So, pictures are worth a thousand words. I could look at each project that I have done and see how I have grown, think about how my clients have grown, and put a thousand words on how thankful I am for my gift as a designer and how rewarding my career is.
